St Columba’s Parish Men’s Group
The Group was established in 2008 with the enthusiastic support of Monsignor Francis Kerr.
Since then has met on average around five times per year. The primary purpose of the Group is to provide a forum for informal socialising where friendships are formed. At each meeting, a collection is taken for the charity of the speaker’s choice.Initially the format of the meetings was a talk on a Friday evening by an invited Guest Speaker on an issue of importance and interest to the Church or to wider Society.
Following the end of the Covid-19 restrictions, the focus of the Group has been on making visits to other Parishes in the Archdiocese. These visits are on a Saturday morning and take the form of a “mini-retreat” including Holy Mass.
We also have an Annual Mass in St Columba’s followed by a hot buffet meal.
Over the coming months, the Group plans to move to a mix of Friday evening meetings with a Guest Speaker and Saturday morning visits to other Parishes. The Annual Mass & meal will continue to be organised.
